🌞 “Another week has flown by on our journey together at the Inn, with a much-needed boost of serotonin fae the bountiful sunshine!”
It’s been a busy and energising time as the Inn reawakens after winter – not just in the kitchen and bar, but behind the scenes too. Thanks to hands-on support from volunteers and committee members, big strides have been made across operations, admin, and infrastructure.
🛠️ “Big hand to Pod… the back-office & paperwork for staff is now all up to date… and his experiment on the bar top sanding… has come up much better!”
The Inn’s main bar recently received some TLC, with sanding and oiling taking place last week. We also had a mini-moveathon, shifting furniture to make both the Inn and staff accommodation ready for the season. These kinds of jobs, though not glamorous, are part of what makes the vision of a thriving, community-led inn possible.
👕 “Thanks to Colin on his merch/uniform endeavours… love the design and quality of the goods!”
From bar tops to branded gear – it’s all part of shaping the welcoming, distinctive feel of Glenuig Inn. With new merch arriving shortly, you’ll soon see staff proudly sporting the new designs. Stock will be available for visitors too, helping spread the word and raise funds.
Thank you to Magpie Makes for producing these stunning branded clothing items! Get yours here.
👨🍳 “Big operations news! Tomasz the Chef arrived last week… it’s been a huge help and gift to have had Sarah in the kitchen!”
Chef Tomasz has now arrived and hit the ground running, launching our brand-new seasonal menu on Thursday 11 April. His arrival marks a major milestone for the team, and we’re so grateful to our committee member Sarah for holding the fort in the kitchen with such care and commitment over the past month. She’ll still be lending a hand as we settle into our new rhythm. The Inn is now open full-time from 12 noon daily, with:- Lunch served 12–2pm- Dinner served 5–8pmWhether you're a local or visiting for the holidays, now’s the perfect time to book a table, pop in, and taste what’s new.
🍷 “Our new wine list… includes a selection sourced from another community endeavour over in Spain.”
Curated by Phillipe and ready to pour, the new wine list reflects the values behind this whole project – community, quality, and connection. Supporting small producers and fellow social enterprises reminds us that this buyout isn’t just about one village – it’s part of a bigger story about sustainable, values-led hospitality.
🌼 “Mother’s Day was amazing and a huge thank you to our team and Volunteer Jean for their hard work.”
Special thanks go out to Jean and the whole crew who helped create a lovely celebration for local mums. Moments like these are what community ownership is all about – creating a place where everyone can gather, celebrate, and connect.
💚 “Well done team fundraising! It's going amazingly well and I truly ken that you're all beavering away…”
Fundraising continues apace, and the progress already made is a testament to the belief and dedication of the whole community. Every contribution – from a bar sanding session to a donation or a conversation – is helping secure the future of this iconic Highland gathering place. We’re also pleased to welcome Mary, who’s joined the team to support bookkeeping and finance.
In other news…
Ailidh and the team have been busy prepping an exciting calendar of events for you this Spring, including our Quiz and Pizza night on Wednesday 16th April, and our Easter Roast menu available on Easter Sunday. Keep your eyes peeled via the Inn social media for more info!
