Community Share Offer
Community Shares allow you to invest directly in the community enterprise currently running the Inn. More details in the Share Brochure (opens new window) and apply below via the online form, or download a pdf to print for handwritten application by post.
DEADLINE TO APPLY: 30th June 2025
Become a shareholder member of GCIL,
Glenuig Community Inn Ltd, a mutual society.
Once you've looked through the share brochure, scroll lower on this page to fill in an online application form, or download a pdf form to print and complete by hand (posting details below).
The planned share offer application window is 10th March to 21st April 2025. After the window closes, if your application is successful, we will be in touch to provide payment details for your share pledge.
For the purposes of this share offer, our local community (Type A, Community Members) is defined as people registered on the electoral roll and living along the A861 (and associated tracks) between Alisary Burn and Dalnabreac Burn on the Moidart Peninsula, West Highlands, Scotland. Type B, Supporter Members are anyone else, living beyond those Burns.
Note: The Type A/Type B split is a requirement of grant funders who require us to define a geographic community and that a majority community control must be demonstrable at both the membership and board level. If we had widened our geographic community to beyond the Burns, we would be infringing on other hostelries who may seek similar grant funding themselves, and thus make ourselves ineligible for such funding.
Community shares are £1 each. The minimum investment application for Type A Community members is 25 shares, and for Type B Supporter members is 2,000 shares. The maximum investment application is 70,000 shares, i.e. £70,000.
The Committee is proud that the Society’s community share issue has been awarded the Community Shares Standard Mark. The Community Shares Standard Mark ensures that community share offers are clear, honest and transparent. It also ensures that investors are presented with all the facts the need to make an informed decision, and these facts are supported by annual accounts and/or the business plan.
