At Glenuig Inn, food has always been about more than what’s on the plate. This season, thanks to the incredible skills of Head Chef Tomasz, Heather who supports us at breakfast and lunch, and our very own committee member Sarah, the kitchen has become a true hub of creativity, community, and flavour.

Sarah sums it up beautifully:

“We are so fortunate to have Tomasz in the kitchen at the Inn to experience the unique flavours that he manages to create. It is a joy to work with him and to be back in the kitchen myself occasionally.
It has been delightful seeing members of the community bringing their produce and foraged goods to the kitchen door, from chanterelles and brambles, edible flowers and rhubarb to mackerel, venison and even lobsters.”

The Inn’s menus reflect this local spirit, where foraged and freshly caught ingredients are transformed into dishes that celebrate both place and people.

For Tomasz, working at the Inn is about more than food:

Working at the Glenuig Inn is a unique experience - it’s not just a place of work, it’s a community project, and I feel proud to be part of something that belongs to the people here. For me, food is about bringing people together. Whether it’s the smell of fresh bread in the morning, a plate of local seafood in the evening, or a Sunday roast that feels like home, I want guests to feel a sense of warmth and belonging when they sit at our tables."

Tomasz's culinary inspiration

My cooking is inspired both by Scotland and my Polish roots. Both traditions share a love for hearty, comforting food – dishes that are simple but full of flavour, and perfect for colder months. This allows me to create plates that are familiar yet carry a little surprise, something that makes people smile.

The Season Ahead:

This season I’m planning to adjust the menu to the autumn mood – more seasonal produce, warming dishes, and some exciting specials. At the same time, we’ve introduced small touches like NFC cards in the rooms, and on our tables making it easier for guests to share their experiences online. Already, we see more reviews coming in, which helps us grow and reach more people.
I’d love people to come and experience not just the food, but the atmosphere we are creating here with the whole team. Supporting the buyout means supporting a place that is rooted in the community, and every visit helps us to keep building something truly special."

Alongside Tomasz, Heather has been serving up hearty breakfasts and delicious lunches, ensuring every part of the day is catered for with warmth and care. Her work, combined with Sarah’s support in the kitchen, makes this a true team effort.

"Heather is one of the true treasures of the Glenuig Inn. She prepares breakfast and serves lunch with such warmth and care that guests instantly feel at home.
Her positive spirit brings light into even the cloudiest Scottish mornings. To many of us, she is like the mother of the house – making sure everyone is looked after and everything runs smoothly. Her hard work and kindness are a big part of what makes the Inn so special, for both our guests and our team". Tomasz, Head Chef

We’re not the only ones who believe the food is special – our TripAdvisor reviews say it all.

“Food was fantastic, the chef particularly exceeded all expectations to deliver outstanding service, and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Would recommend, and will return.”
“Very delicious and well-prepared food – made from fresh ingredients and in appropriate portion sizes. Sweet and friendly service. The food came quickly even though we were a family of 10.”
“The best goats cheese, caramelised walnut and fig sandwich I’ve ever had, on amazing homemade focaccia. The soup was amazing too. Stunning place and such friendly people running the place. Well worth going miles out of your way for!”
“Beautiful Inn with a lovely, cosy feel to it… Excellent service. Lovely local smoked food, with traditional Scottish meals. You can sit down and look out onto the rugged coastline. Would definitely come again, thank you!”

"We’re incredibly proud of our whole team. In a season where staffing has been tough across the hospitality sector, their dedication, warmth and good cheer have kept the Inn buzzing with life." - Colin Speedie, Glenuig Community Inn Committee

🌟 A huge thank you to Tomasz, Sarah and Heather, whose passion and hard work have lifted our food offering, and our ratings, to the next level. We couldn’t do it without them.
