Hitting our fundraising target was a huge moment, but it’s just one chapter in a much longer story. Now comes the exciting part - turning plans into reality.

Our immediate goals include:• Finalising the purchase of the Inn and ensuring a smooth handover.

  • Recruiting a Project Officer to manage the community asset transfer. (We’re hiring now - learn more. Applications close on 31st August 2025.)

  • Carrying out essential maintenance to maintain the high standards that Glenuig Inn is known for.

  • Refining our menu to combine the classics with more local produce.

Medium-term, we want to integrate more closely with the village hall, shop, and history hut, offering joint events and packages that encourage visitors to explore everything Glenuig has to offer. We also aim to position the Inn as a hub for outdoor activities, building on our new coastal rowing skiff and the area’s appeal for kayakers, cyclists, and walkers.

As Committee Member Malcolm Fraser puts it:

“This development sets out a path for the Village, where our young people don’t have to leave for a future, but can work as chefs or musicians, or supply produce to our kitchen, or start an outward bound business, up hills, along our coast or in our seas – and including, in ways we can’t even predict from here, using it as a hub to develop businesses from and around.
This also sets us our next task, to address the rural housing crisis by advancing social housing proposals that give them warm and secure places to work from, and bring up their own families, in turn.”

Long-term, our goal is a self-sustaining business that supports local jobs, keeps the community connected through winter, and remains a place people talk about long after they’ve left.

The work has only just begun, but the foundations are strong - and the view from here is nothing short of inspiring.

Your support can make the difference. The Glenuig Community Inn Buyout committee is working to raise a final £25,000 to cover ongoing expenses, important upkeep, and upgrades that will keep the Inn at the heart of our community.
